Bespoke bags
Custom orders have become one of our niches throughout the years. We regard them as exciting challenges, and we love seeing how happy it makes our customers when they create their dream bag. This often becomes a fun collaborative process as we work together to create a one-of-a-kind lifetime bag.
Creating a bespoke bag can look quite different for each customer. For many it’s just a matter of creating an interior that will fit the specific belongings you plan to carry on a daily basis. The possibilities are nearly endless, so never hesitate to express any ideas you may have. As you can see from our previous work, this can be anything from adding zippers, and other closures, to adding depth to pockets for large headsets, bottles, chargers etc. You may want small pockets for USB drives or even a special pocket for chapstick. In the past, we’ve added interior D-rings and snaps to hook on glasses, keys, etc to accommodate a range of preferences.

Above we added multiple custom pockets that are staggered on to of each other, utilizing all all the space inside the bag. These are pockets such as card holders, usb drives, pen holders and for various chargers and bottles.
Here you see two deep pockets with flap and snap closures, pen holders, card holders, snap and D-ring for glasses and keys, and an additional deep pocket.

Truly Bespoke v. Alterations
We often get requests to change certain parts of an existing design, or to merge two bag styles. These modifications are quick and easy to communicate, and oftentimes we just ask the customer to make a simple note of it when placing the order.
However, other times our customer come equipped with their own design ideas. We typically begin by deciding on a “base” design from an existing bag, and build it from there. These collaborations take longer, so we ask our customer to please be patient with us if this is during the busy season. Further, the more images, sketches, and inspiring ideas that are provided to us, the more fluid the process becomes.
The original design for the above bag was taken from our ‘Kontrast’ briefcase. It is made from natural vegetable tanned leather that has been hand dyed a dark blue/green color. It was the hue the customer requested and we mixed the dye ourselves. Then we replaced the original closure with a key lock.

This is an example of a bespoke bag that has been modified so much from its original design (the Essential), that it has become its own style. The customer had design suggestions, and together we tweaked and perfected the style. The result was so great that it became a new Basader product.
The customizations done to the exterior of this Harness bag (the Vintage) was adding deep front pockets with flaps and snaps, added depth to the bag, and loops to hold down the front straps.
Custom Sourcing
We also have customers that love our designs, but want to change the leather color, thread color, or hardware finish to something that we don’t currently offer. We’re almost always onboard with this, and happy to custom source materials from our vendors.
Needless to say, we absolutely love taking on these challenges in so many ways. We create our products FOR our customers, and we want nothing else but to make them happy with their order. The goal is to create a bag that will make you happy every time you put your eyes on it, for many years to come. Going through these collaborations not only teach us so much about what our customer is looking for in a bag, but it also shows us what is missing in the market.
