We believe in creating bags that will last a lifetime. And we strive to create bags that will withstand years of heavy use without wearing the leather, the stitching or hardware. Therefore we choose only the highest quality material from heavy full grain leather to the finest quality hardware and apply extra steps and effort to create heirloom pieces.
Having said this, less is more in our opinion. Our designs are purposefully minimal to create timeless pieces. We minimize the design to only the bare essentials, without adding a bunch of nick-nacks to ‘enhance’ the design (that will later break). We keep it clean and simple with the highest quality hardware, to decrease the chances of anything ever failing.
Even for the interior, we have our tannery custom finish the back of the leather by buffing it for smoothness and adding a paste for a clean finish, however we don’t line the bag with fabric, and fabric pockets that will just break within a couple of years of use. And even our interior pockets are made from the same top-quality bridle leather, and stitched with the same extra strong polyester thread as the exterior — nearly impossible to break or wear down.
We have always offered a lifetime guarantee for our products, and for us this means that if your bag would ever need a repair or just a cleanup, you can ship it back to us and we will give it a complete tune-up, free of charge. During the 10 years we have been in business, we rarely receive bags that need a repair. Occasionally there is a large work-bag, which has been used heavily for 5-10 years, that needs a hardware replacement. Even though we use the highest quality clips and D-rings, this is what seems to wear down first. But it’s an easy fix, and we are happy to replace these parts. However most of the time we get bags back that have had some sort of spill inside the bag. Like the time when a customer’s yogurt leaked, or a mashed up banana soaked through the leather. This requires a deep clean, but no job is too big for us, and it’s all manageable. We actually love receiving used bags back, as it allows us to study how it’s holding up, and we get a chance to improve our designs.
Lifetime Guarantee
So to recap, we at basader do indeed have a lifetime guarantee. Because our materials are of such quality, it’s possible to disassemble and reassemble a bag just to fix even the most egregious damage. This is not a common occurrence, but even if you experience more minor damage, we’re here to help.
A 5 year old Medium brown Classic before repair, taken apart for replacement of gusset. This is one of the most extensive repairs we have done, where we decided to replace the gusset after some damage done to the leather.
After we assembled the bag back together, we touched up the edge paint and did a deep clean with oil and wax. It looks as good as new!
This 5 year old well used dark brown Minimal Messenger bag just needed some TLC
After we cleaned the leather, we went over with new dark brown dye and treated it with oil and wax.
A newly oiled and waxed 6 year medium brown Svelt messenger bag. The color looks blotchy after the leather treatment has been applied, however this will lessen after the oil has absorbed.

After we have made a few small repairs, added new navy dye to some worn areas, and given it a generous layer of leather cream.
