Making of a New Handmade Leather Tote
While we put a lot of love into our current line of handmade leather totes, we’re soon to update the design (for fall/winter). But with our old totes, we typically use drum-dyed oil-stuffed leather—excellent material, but as with any drum-dyed leather, the color permeates the leather completely (back and front). Because of this, and as seen in the images above, we’re moving to veg-tan leather for our totes. Unlike drum-dyed, we particularly like veg-tan because it allows us to hand-dye, while also keeping the edges and underside of the leather a beautiful natural color—as seen in most of our veg-tan messenger bag lineup. Further, since we don’t have to rely on a supplier to dye the leather for us, we can experiment with some pretty wild colors…which will be coming soon!
