Step into the studio and discover the craft of leatherwork in this beginner friendly workshop. Perfect for complete beginners or anyone curious about working with leather, this hands on session introduces you to essential tools, materials, and foundational techniques, all in a relaxed, inspiring environment.
Guided by Basäder founder Elin Johansson Antonelli, you’ll learn how to cut, glue, edge finish, and hand stitch premium vegetable tanned leather using both traditional methods and the refined, untraditional techniques Elin has developed over more than a decade of professional practice.
Working with minimal equipment and simple patterns, you’ll create a small handcrafted piece such as a cardholder or keychain while building a strong foundation of skills to carry into more advanced projects.
What you’ll learn:
• Cutting, gluing, and preparing vegetable-tanned leather
• Edge beveling, burnishing, and finishing techniques
• Saddle stitching by hand.
• Installing small hardware and making design modifications
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished piece and the confidence to continue exploring leatherwork or to join one of our more advanced Studio Sessions such as The Essential Small Leather Bag or Structured Bag Intensive.
Price: $225 per person (materials included)
Early Bird Pricing: $195 if booked by 10/24
